Privacy Policy
This page explains what data UnspokenQuestions.com ("we," "the site") collects when you visit, how it is used, who else processes it, and the rights you have over it. Plain language is the goal — if anything is unclear, write to [email protected] and we will try to clarify.
Who runs the site
The site is operated as an independent publication under the name UnspokenQuestions. The legal jurisdiction governing the site is described in the Terms. For data-protection purposes, the operator acts as the data controller for the limited information described below.
What we collect directly
We do not run a contact form, a comments system, an account system, or a newsletter. As a result, the site itself does not directly collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other personal identifiers. If you choose to email us, we will receive whatever information you put in that email and use it only to reply to you.
What is collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting and the third-party services described below process some data each time a page loads. This typically includes:
- Your IP address (used to deliver the page and for security and abuse prevention).
- Your browser type and version, operating system, and device class.
- The page you requested and, where shared by your browser, the page you came from.
- The date and time of the request.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our third-party providers use them for analytics and advertising. Categories used on the site:
- Strictly necessary: required to load and display the site. These are not used for tracking.
- Analytics: Google Analytics measures aggregated traffic patterns so we can see which topics readers find useful.
- Advertising: Google AdSense and partner networks use cookies to serve and measure ads, including (where you allow it) personalized ads.
For category-by-category detail, see the Cookies page.
Analytics — Google Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand traffic at an aggregate level: which pages get read, how readers arrive, and which devices they use. Analytics data is processed by Google. To opt out across sites, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising — Google AdSense
This site is monetized through display advertising, including Google AdSense. AdSense, like other ad networks, may set cookies and use device identifiers to serve ads, measure their performance, and personalize them. Some ads may be served by third-party vendors and ad networks that work with Google.
Per Google's published policy:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on user visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you may opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
More on Google's advertising practices is in the Google Ad Technology Policies.
Other third-party services
- Hosting and CDN. The site is delivered by a hosting provider that processes server logs as described above.
- External links. Pages link to outside websites (research bodies, books, organizations). Once you leave UnspokenQuestions.com, the destination's own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep data
The site does not run a database of readers, so there is no long-term reader profile to retain. Server logs are typically rotated within a short window by the hosting provider. Analytics data is retained per the configured Google Analytics retention period; advertising cookies are retained per the partner's published policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data processed about you, including the right to:
- Know what categories of data are processed and why.
- Request access to data tied to you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of data ("right to erasure"), subject to legal limits.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for cookies and personalized advertising at any time.
- (California / CCPA) Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- (EEA / UK GDPR) Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected] and describe what you'd like us to do. We may need to confirm that you are the person making the request.
Children
The site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). If you believe a child has interacted with the site in a way that exposes their data, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to address it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes meaningfully, we will update the date at the top of the page and, where the change materially affects you, surface a brief note on the homepage. Continued use of the site after a change indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
